I have a choice, and I'm not afraid to use it. #mbm – The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

Last night, I had plans to meet a friend at a sports bar to watch basketball before going to a local club for a friend’s birthday party. I had it all planned what I was going to eat, and I’m going to tell you now, it wasn’t healthy.

Normally, this doesn’t bother me. If I plan and make the choice to eat something unhealthy, I have no guilt. But yesterday was a little different. This week has been a little different.

Unexpectedly, I have been social almost every night this week. I am usually a homebody. So, I have eaten out more this week than I normally do. (And exercised very little.) I don’t feel guilty about this because a friend has needed me, and being there for my friend is very important to me. Last night, though, before I went out, I listened to my body and made a decision.

I thought, you know, I have eaten crap a few times this week and my stomach literally hates me right now. It is begging me for healthy food. So, before heading out, I gave my stomach its wish. I ate at home.

That’s all it takes, really. One moment to think about what your body is begging you to give it. One moment to ask yourself:  Do I really want to put more crap into my body this week? Sure, it’ll be good in that moment, but is that really what I want? What my body wants? No, not really.

If you’ve been struggling with choices and maybe are feeling guilty about those choices, then take a moment to sit and think. What is your body asking from you? Know that there are going to be times that you won’t make the healthiest of choices, and be okay with that. Then, throw away the guilt, and move on.

I have to say, I’m excited. I was proud of myself last night for making that choice. I have a game plan for this coming week when it comes to food and exercise. While it won’t erase this past week, I feel great knowing that this coming week is going to be a healthy week.

So, tell me. What healthy choices are you going to make this week?
