Say hello to Tracie, she was chosen by Trish for the spotlight this week! Congratulations on your awesome 5K time last week, girl! That is an awesome accomplishment!

Name: Tracie
Blog: Blissful Bedlam
Twitter: @mom2teebee
Age: 34
Hometown: Blackwood, NJ but I grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA and still consider that “home”

Tell us about your family:
My husband and I have been married for 12 1/2 years.  We have 2 children, Tommy 8 and Becca 3.  I’m a stay-at-home mom while my husband is a locomotive engineer (fancy name for he runs trains).  Tommy has high functioning autism which can be both a blessing and a challenge.  My youngest, Becca, is a girly-girl through and through from pink to princesses and the whole she-bang.

What is your favorite workout? Walking.  When I get on the treadmill with my headphones on it is just me and no one else.  I’ve also started running which I’m growing to love.  And for DVD’s anything by Jillian Michaels.  I have a soft spot for 30 Day Shred because that is what I started out with.  I also love kickboxing DVDs.
What do you consider your biggest accomplishment?
In exercise/fitness I just ran a sub 40 minute 5K last week.  I’ve been trying to break through the 40 minute mark for over a year since I started running.  I finally did it in 38:17.

Non-fitness related it is probably the steps I’ve taken with moving towards healthier eating and getting my kids to eat things they don’t even know are healthy.  Tommy is pretty picky and is used to the processed crap.  So when he doesn’t ask for a certain thing in a can, frozen, or boxed in a while I consider that a huge success.  And with the husband anytime I can slip something by him that is whole wheat or healthier and he doesn’t know that is huge.

Have you set any goals for this year? I’ve been terrible with setting goals and sticking to them.  Initially, I wanted to be at my goal weight by the end of the year.  Truly I’ll be happier just being further along on the healthy road than I was last year.  Each day I’m taking strides towards that.  We are eating better food.  The scale will get there eventually. Who is your best support in your healthier-living journey? When the husband is in weight-loss mode he is incredible.  Not to sound corny but everyone I’ve met online has been great especially here at Shrinking Jeans. Favorite songs on your iPod right now? I have and eclectic mix on my phone.  Right now I’m loving anything by P!nk.  I think she is just awesome.  I also love Daughtry.  What I Want makes a great running track.  Usually anything I can sing along too is my favorite. Who or what inspires you? My uncle.  He used to be overweight.  He has since lost all of his weight.  He ran a 5K and biked from Pittsburgh down to VA.  He is just awesome.  I keep up with his updates on Facebook.  He is always quick to comment on any new food creation that I post or a recent workout from Daily Mile.

All of the healthy living/weight loss blogs I read.  It is easier to know that there are other people living with the same daily struggles that I have.

Finally my kids.  I want to set a great example for them.  When my daughter fights me for my edamame I light up inside.

Do you have any must-have health/beauty/clothing products? I’m pretty low maintenance.  Since I started running I’ve invested in new running shoes.  And recently I got another pair for walking which I love.  I prefer to get new fitness stuff than clothes or makeup.  I’m sure that will change in the future. Name 3 blogs you love to read! Aside from this blog of course:

  • Roni’s Weigh
  • Prior Fat Girl
  • Gina’s Weight Watcher’s Recipes
