Welcome to the first Throwback Thursday post. This is the day of the week when we will revisit some of our favorite posts. The posts that deserve a second look. The posts that stayed with us or the ones that inspired us.

My throwback is about my journey with the Sisterhood. It all began in March of 2009. I emailed back and forth with Melissa for awhile and on March 31, 2009 I became a member of the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans. I had no idea then what a huge part of my life this group would become.

I jumped in with both feet and I loved it. I was doing all my posts on my Bacardi Mama blog. I loved the challenges and everyone was so supportive. Christy become one of my best friends. She was awesome to say the least. No matter how many times I bugged her about stuff, she was always willing to help me.

The first post that sticks with me was when I was awarded the very first Sister Spotlight. This was on June 4, 2009. This meant the world to me. I had come home from a bad day at work and found this post. Needless to say, it turned my day around. Anytime I need a pick me up, I go back and read that post.

The next post was during the Rethink Your Shrink challenge. During that challenge we had what was known as the Monday Project. On January 11, 2010 we received the assignment to create a motivation wall. My motivation wall was on a piece of poster board. It had pictures, quotes that I love, my goals, all kinds of things on it. It is still in my closet and I pull it out from time to time when I’m lacking in motivation.

On July 13, 2010 I decided that I needed a blog that was specificly for my weight loss and fitness journey. On that day, She’s Getting Serious was born. I loved that I had a place that was just for me and for my journey. A lot of things happened on that little blog.

August 22, 2010 was a huge surprise of a post for me. I was amazed and thrilled to be awarded the Sister Spotlight for a second time. It was April’s idea. When Sister Spotlight was first started, you didn’t pick the next spotlight and April thought that I should have had that chance. I was so happy because I knew without even thinking who I was going to pass the spotlight to. I chose Christy because she has always been there for me and she continues to be to this very day. I love you hooker!

The month of October 2010 was huge for me as far as inspiring blog posts went. This month was our I Love Myself month. It was a huge eye opener for me. We took a pledge that I remember brought tears to my eyes at the time. Every week brought a new Monday Project. I learned so much about myself during that month.

On October 13, 2010 I was faced with one of the hardest decisions of my life. The Monday project asked us to join the Exposed movement. Do you remember that one? You were asked to take pictures of yourself in your underwear or bathing suit or something of lesser attire and do a post about it. The night before we were asked to do this, I was on Twitter and people were all a buzz about Exposed. I said then that I would never do that. Not me, not no way, not no how. Well never say never. I had never backed down from a Sisterhood challenge and I decided that this wouldn’t be my first. I stripped down to a sports bra and bike shorts and started snapping. The really hard part came when I had to push Publish. But I did it and I never looked back. It was empowering and so good for me.

This is starting to become a mini novel. There are so many posts that I could link to. I researched for hours and had so much fun revisiting so many great posts. I am choosing the post of January 16, 2011 as my last post. This was the day that it was announced that I would be one of the new contributing writers for the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans. It was a dream come true and I have loved being on the inside workings of the site. You wouldn’t believe some of the crazy email threads.

I love the concept of Throwback Thursday and I hope you will visit the links in this post. I certainly enjoyed revisiting them and I hope you will too. It was like my own little refresher course in inspiration and who can’t use a little inspiration?
