Better late… | The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

So, we have this handy, dandy, nifty calendar at the Shrinking Jeans Corporate Offices (a.k.a. gmail) that Heather so graciously updates with our writing schedule. It’s great for remembering when you are supposed to post so that you can write it all down in your planner month(s) in advance.

You know, when you actually check it.

Guess who forgot to check it and got a gentle reminder from her heroes, Melissa and Christy…

So what did I do?

Well first I sent them a reply to their email. Let me sum up the contents:

Fuuuuuuuuuuu…dge!!!!!

I apologized all over myself because, you know what? I’ve been doing this a lot lately.

But you know what else? All is not lost.

There will be things all the time (every day, sometimes) that get in your way and make you run out of time or just completely derail your efforts.

So what do you do? Do you throw in the towel? Or do you do what you can, when you can?

(Hint: The correct answer is “Do what I can, when I can”. Bonus points if your answer was “Do what I can, when I can, DAMMIT! Thea, you are so freakin’ smart! I’m so glad that you took the time to write this post instead of just letting Christy and Melissa let you off the hook!”)

Is this the most thought provoking post in the world? Probably not, but it’s what I had time for. And writing for all of you matters to me.

What matters to you? Right now, right when you are reading this, what can you do that you have let fall by the wayside?

Were you supposed to do the 100 push ups challenge and didn’t get it in? Do 10 push ups right now. Not as punishment, but because you can.

Were you supposed to do strength training on your arms today and it got passed up? Do 10 chair dips right now. Not as punishment, but because you can.

Did you not have a 5th (or 4th…or 3rd…or 2nd…or 1st) serving of fruits and vegetables today? Go get a piece of fruit right now. Not as a punishment, but because you can.

Were you supposed to get a 5 mile run in and time got away from you? What DO you have time for? Go do that as soon as you have a chance. Not as a punishment, but because you can.

Remember: Progress, not perfection.

Remember: What you can, when you can.
