Do you like our new *Featured Runner Series*?  I do because I love reading what other runners have to say- the good, the bad and the funny!  I can always find something to relate to another runner- can’t you?  We runners are a special community!

Have you liked The Run at the Sisterhood Facebook page yet?  If not, go ahead and click on that link and *like* us, pretty please!

Alright, let’s meet our next featured runner- Leigh Ann!  I met Leigh Ann when we were both running ambassadors for the Zooma Women’s Race Series, specifically for the Austin race in March 2013.  She is real, funny and keeps going even when the going gets tough.  Please raise your hands high in the air, give a shout out or high five or *hey, I feel the same way, think the same thing, had the same experience* in the comments below.

First Name: Leigh Ann

State: Texas

What is the longest distance you have run? Half marathon! 13.1

Why did you start running? I have always run on and off for fitness, but never really got into it until I was recruited as a blog ambassador for Zooma Texas.

Why do you KEEP running? It truly became a lifestyle. It makes me feel good makes my body feel good, and chases away any and all bad moods. It’s also priceless alone time. And you can’t beat blasting hundreds of calories doing something you enjoy.

What is your most proud running moment? It’s a tie between finishing the Zooma Texas Half Marathon in March 2013 and completing the Tough Mudder Austin event with my husband in October 2012.

Have you ever had a runner’s high? Yes! Halfway through my Zooma training I completed my first ever 6 mile run and felt fantastic the entire time. It really got me pumped for the rest of the training schedule.

Have you ever lost a toenail? Ew, no. Well, not due to running. 😉

Do you have a BRF (best running friend)? I have great running friends, wonderful people I have either met through running or running has strengthened our current friendship. One of my best friends started running a few years before me and ran Zooma and the Cap 10k, but we don’t run together. She’s too fast! At the moment I don’t have someone who runs my pace.

Do you have a running mantra and what is it? Not really, but when I’m out I always think about a shirt that Another Mother Runner used to carry that said “This is the easiest part of my day.” I so wish they still had it!

What songs get you through the tough runs? Right now my one song that gets me really pumped is Reunion by M83. I’ll run to anything by Foster the People. I’m also a little ashamed to admit that I LOVE the song Thrift Shop my Macklemore.

What is your favorite piece of running gear? My shoes! Asics DS Trainers. They are my first expensive pair and they feel so good.

What would be your dream race to run (if you like to run races)? I haven’t gotten into dream races yet. Right now I’m still just signing up for things that strike my fancy.

Have you ever thought of throwing in the towel? Yes. I got really burned out during Zooma training. During bad runs I would wonder why in the world I was doing this to myself. Luckily other seasoned runners showed their support and told me that those feelings are normal.

What running apps/sites do you use? I track my runs with RunKeeper on my iPhone.

What piece of advice would you give a new runner? You can do way more than you think you can. Longer distances are daunting, but with training, support, and hard work, you’ll get there and won’t want to turn back.
