Toot Your Horn Tuesday

Today for Toot Your Horn Tuesday, I am going to show you how you can turn a negative into a positive with just a simple twist of your thought process. Honestly, you can do it. I did just yesterday.

Yesterday morning I went out for a walk. I do this most mornings. No big deal, right? Well, for some unkown reason, yesterday’s walk turned into my annual “let’s fall down as we walk” day. Don’t ask me why, but it happens to me once a year. One minute I’m up and the next I’m down.

This years fall was classic. I was walking by myself. Good thing because the girl I usually walk with would have wet her pants laughing at me. I was walking down one of the main streets in downtown. I was passing by a section of the sidewalk that was getting torn up and replaced. Let’s just say it was in a state of disrepair. Well, one minute I’m walking along and the next minute I am down on all fours. Just like everyone of you, I was back up in less than 2.3 seconds. I am pretty sure that nobody saw me go down. At least nobody came racing over to see if I was okay. I just bounced back up like a weeble (do any of you remember weebles?) and kept walking. I was in pain. I could see that both of my hands were scraped up and bloody and by the pain, I was pretty sure my knees were torn up too. I wasn’t about to stop and check those out though. My only thought was to just keep walking and nobody will be the wiser.

Now, here comes the part where I turned the negative into a positive. I think you would all agree that falling down and tearing yourself up is a negative, right? Well, I kept on walking for another 2.4 miles. I just kept on going. I wasn’t going to let a little fall stop me from my appointed rounds. I had planned to walk three and a half to four miles and I did. I would call that a positive for sure.

When I got back home and finally surveyed the damage, I had tore my left knee up pretty good and my left hand was beginning to turn black and blue along with the scrapes. My right hand and knee are just a little scraped. But, I just kept telling myslef that finishing the walk was awesome. I could have sat down on that curb and called my husband to pick me up, but I didn’t. I turned that negative into a big old positive and I am tooting my horn loud and proud about it.

So now it’s your turn. What did you do to toot your horn about this week? Did you have a PR in a race? Did you never stray off eating well? Did you turn a negative into a positive like me? We all want to know! Just leave your toots in the comments or leave the link to your post if you blogged about it. We can’t wait to hear!!
