Good morning lovely people! Today is Wednesday and that means it is check in day!! This will be our last weekly check in before our Back To Basics Diet Bet challenge so I want to make it a good one! Hop on the scale and let us know the good, the bad, and the ohmygoodnessI’msoexcitedtobegettingbacktothebasics!! I, for one, am glad that my self worth is not tied to the scale
even though sometimes it seems like it is!!
Last week when Christy posted about starting the Back to Basics Diet Bet I thought it sounded like something I should do but had not totally made the commitment to put my money where my mouth was. But then this past weekend while on a 12 mile training walk, in the Texas summer heat
when I felt like I was going to die if I didn’t get some relief I came to the complete and undeniable decision — I NEED TO GET BACK TO THE BASICS!! Not only does that mean participating in the Diet Bet and receiving the motivation and encouragement of everyone else, but it also means NO MORE SUGAR!!! I did a sugar detox in April and I was very successful but sugar has slowly made it back into my every day eating habits and I have been feeling and seeing the results of it (not only in my clothes but on the scale)! As I posted yesterday, starting Monday, September 1, I am going to go sugar free. No more sugar, no more artificial sugar, no more unnatural sweet anything! If it’s sweet and passes my lips it had better be a piece of fruit! This is not for everyone but it is definitely for me. I need to get back to the basics of eating whole, fresh foods if I want to see my weight loss goals happen this year. And I really and truly do….
Are you wanting and needing to get back to the basics? Are you wanting to see where the next 4 weeks takes you? Are you willing to give up those things that become a huge vice in your life? I know it won’t be easy all the time, but life is seldom easy. Just because it’s not easy doesn’t mean you should not give it a try!
This next week will be all about making sure the house is stocked with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, making sure my schedule is cleared off enough for me to get enough sleep so that I can get up early and exercise, and drinking plenty of H2O!! Yep, water and fresh foods, and sleep are top priority in my plan. See what I mean about “back to basics”?!!

Just a quick note to say, if you don’t see or hear much for me for the next 10 days don’t be alarmed! My Marine son is home on leave (as of 10 a.m. this morning) and I plan to spend as much time as possible with him for this week and a half!! Momma has missed her baby!! xoxo
