It’s New Year’s Eve. It’s the day we think of out with the old and in with the new. It’s the day that we think about all the things we are going to get right in the new year. It’s the day we think about all the things we are going to start tomorrow.

I’m not the kind of girl who makes resolutions anymore. When you resolve to do something, it’s a do it or don’t do it proposition. Too many times I’d get off track and then I’d be down on myself. What I do now is set goals for myself. A goal is something else completely. A goal is long term and there are many ways to get to that end point. There is no right way or wrong way. You just set the goal and get there any way you can. Period.

One of the best goals I set for myself last year was to keep a journal. The only goal I had for it was to write in it every day. I had no rules. I could write a sentence or I could write three pages. I could write in the morning or I could write before I went to bed. I could write about what I was grateful for that day or what really ticked me off. The goal was just to write and I did. I wrote in my journal every day for 365 days. Goal achieved.

In the new year, I am challenging you to journal. Write it down! It doesn’t have to be a big, fancy journal. It can be as simple as a spiral notebook. The goal is to just write it down. You had a great day, write it down. You had a crappy day, write it down. You achieved a fitness goal, write it down. You found a quote that you love, write it down. It doesn’t really matter what you write so much as that you just write. The goal is to just write it down.

Who’s with me? I’m starting my new journal tomorrow. I’m going to write it down. Are you?
