Take a close look at the title of this post. It seems like one of the biggest oxymorons of all time, doesn’t it? Facebook and fitness used together? FACEBOOK FITNESS? Surely you jest! Facebook is notorious for sucking us into losing hours of time as we read about everyone’s latest pet trick, favorite new recipe, vacation spot, work place fiasco – you name it. But can Facebook really be a source for FITNESS?
I say yes, thanks to passionate fitness trainers who are eager to share their workouts and a relatively new feature that lets you save videos for future viewing.
Facebook is full of people who are eager to share their workouts with you. It’s all a matter of following or “liking” them. Here are a few of my favorites
Usually, these videos tend to be 10-15 minutes in length – sometimes as short as 3 to 5 minutes – but if you put a few of them together, viola! Or let’s say you really do have only just time for a 15-minute sweat session. These can get the job done. You can do them as you come across them in your news feed or use the “save” feature for future viewing. That’s what I do. I save up a few video links and then tell myself before I “allow’ myself to spend any time looking through everyone’s vacation pictures or catching up with my friends and family on Facebook, I have to knock out a few videos first. It’s been a fun way to get some variety into my workouts.
I mean, if you’re going to be on Facebook anyway, why not make it work for you?
Do you follow any fitness trainers on Facebook? Let’s hear about ’em!
