I’m working on losing my muffin top….Are you?

This will be a short post- I am so incredibly crazy busy today.  I think I’ll do this “bullet-style”.

  • This is Week 7 of our Shrink Into Summer Challenge- there is only ONE week left.  How are you doing?  Are you nearing your goals for this challenge?  Are you ready to make that final PUSH to next week’s weigh-in?
  • Quite a few of us have decided to take on Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred for a second round (Wahoo!), some are doing it for the first time.  Isn’t she the best?  Don’t you love to hate her?  I do.  Even though this is my second round, my body still hurts like it’s the first round- what’s up with that?!
  • Did you lose weight this past week?  Have you even weighed yourself yet?  Just get the agony over with and step on the scale!  Post how you are doing on personal blog, then come back here and leave a link in the comments section.
  • Don’t forget….everyone who comments on the Weigh-In post is automatically entered into our weigh-in giveaway:  Eat This No That (supermarket version) AND Eat This Not That (restaurant version).  That is TWO books, folks!  I have the supermarket version and it is awesome and a real eye-opener!  Thank you to Pat and Missy for sponsoring this week’s giveaway.  You have until 11:59PM PST to comment, so go ahead and leave a comment with your weight stats : ).
  • I am sure I am forgetting something in my haste….Did everyone have a nice Mother’s Day?

Keep on, keepin’ on- WE’RE SHRINKING!!!!!!

Awhile back, we were given the chance to review a great product called ToeSox.

From the ToeSox site:
So what is a foot revolution? The liberation of your feet. The ability to spread your toes. Wiggle room. Spacious, breathing, strong, enlightened feet.

Our Yoga-Pilates ToeSox with our patented non-slip grip are great for yoga, pilates, dance and martial arts, as well as any other barefoot activity. Our Sport-Sandal ToeSox without the non-slip sole are the same sock – no grip. Great to wear in your athletic shoes or sandals. The five toe design promotes toe strength and flexibility by allowing independent movement of your toes. Foot freedom. Happy feet. Good stuff.

Amanda, also known as ADub, fell in love with my pair and stole them. Well, okay, I gave them to her, because I couldn’t bear to see her cry. Really, I think she might have hurt me if I didn’t give them to her. But I digress!

Here’s what Amanda had to say about Toe Sox!

Shall we talk about freedom? No, no, I don’t mean fries! I mean, toe freedom. Yes, I want to talk about my toes. And socks. I love socks. Nice, clean, new socks. Seriously, I might have issues. BUT, I have found my sock people- they are having a foot revolution over at ToeSox. Toe sox? Yes, they are socks that wear like gloves for your feet. They are made from 100% organic cotton and they give your toes the love they deserve. The ones I’m wearing are made for yoga, Pilates and my personal favorite, lounging around. They are pink and have pink tread on the bottom to give you extra grip on the floor and stability while doing any of the balance challenging positions of yoga or Pilates. What does that mean? It means they let your toes stretch out while giving you support.

I know what you are thinking- But, Amanda, doesn’t it feel weird with the toe hugging? Of course it does! But, only at first. In no time, I was loving the toe hugging! It feels good and it actually makes my toes feel more relaxed. My feet stay toasty warm without sweating between my little piggies. You can wear them with sandals, and they also make socks without tread for wearing with sneakers. (That sounds cramped, but it actually allows your toes to spread out and work more muscles in your feet.  Nobody wants to leave the foot muscles out!) The newest addition to the family is the Half-ToeSox. I cannot wait for those to arrive. It’s time to liberate your feet, people!

The wonderful people at ToeSox have agreed to share the love and allow one of our lucky readers to discover the Foot Revolution for themselves. That’s right, you have a chance to own a pair of these toe hugging socks. Here’s all you have to do:

  1. Head over to the ToeSox store and let us know (in a comment) what style and color you’d love to own. There are some are some pretty awesome colors to choose from! And yes, if you wear the sox while you do yoga and pilates, you might look like those girls on their site one day!
  2. Follow us on Twitter and tweet about this giveaway for an extra entry to win! Don’t forget to leave another comment letting us know you tweeted!

Contest ends Thursday, May 14th at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. Open to U.S. residents only.

It’s Week 6 of our Shrink Into Summer challenge!

How are you doing?  Are you SHRINKING?  Exercising?  Eating right?

I know that for me, I am in this for the long haul.  I’m all about the journey, not the end destination.  And while my journey is crawling along at a snails pace and sometimes I get distracted by that bag of Doritos over here (Hi bag of chips!  How I love you so.) or I get sidetracked by that pulled muscle in my back (Hello pulled muscle in my back.  Please go away right now.),  I am staying true to my course and not throwing in the towel.  If I have a bad day, I call it just that- a BAD DAY.  The next morning, I get back on track.

And so can you.

Yesterday was Day 30 of Shredding and THE END.  BUT lucky us- we’re going to do it all over again- yippee!  AGAIN?  You ask.  Oh yes, AGAIN.  So many of us have noticed a huge difference in our bodies from the first 30 days, so many of you didn’t join us the first time or have requested that we do it once again and YES, YES, YES, we will all get to see MORE of Jillian Michaels.    Maybe by the end of this 2nd set of 30 days, my body will look like Natalie’s.

Maybe not.

RECAP

  • Don’t forget, for those who want to participate in the Kellogg’s All Bran 10 Day Promise with The Sisterhood, click here for the details.  There is a giveaway at this link too  ).
  • We have two weeks left in the Shrink Into Summer Challenge.  Kick it up a notch as we near the end.  How much do you want to lose these last two weeks?  I’m going for two pounds gone in two weeks.
  • We got a giveaway for one lucky weigh-in winner.  Dust off the scale, gingerly step on, and come back here to report your results.  If you want to write a post on your personal blog, make sure to leave the link here so that we can come visit you.  Everyone who comments on this post will automatically be entered for the Weigh-In giveaway.   Our giveaway sponsors this week are Stacey and Nancy.  That’s right- we are giving away TWO different prizes- WAHOO!  You have until 11:59pm Pacific time to comment.

Keep up the good work- plan your work and work your plan.

Shrink Away Sisters and Brothers!

Posted by christy on May 4, 2009

Recently, Kellogg’s approached the Sisterhood and asked us to take the All Bran 10 Day Promise challenge! Since we’re always looking for ways to improve our diets, we happily agreed to load up on fiber and report back to y’all on how it makes us feel!

For the next 10 days, Lisa, Melissa, Donya and I will be upping our fiber intake in hopes of making our bodies just a little bit happier and healthier!

Here are some facts that Kellogg’s shared with us:

You’ll Feel Better, We Promise
The All-Bran® 10-Day Promise is simple. All you have to do is enjoy one serving of Kellogg’s® All-Bran® products once a day for 10 days. And you’ll be on the road to enjoying the benefits of good digestive health. No meal plans, no counting or cutting calories, just a simple and delicious way to add fiber to your diet to help you feel good, we promise.

How much is enough?
The National Institutes of Health recommends adults eat between 25 and 30 grams of fiber per day, yet most Americans only eat 10 to 15 grams of fiber per day. Adding fiber to your diet is easy with the many great-tasting options from All-Bran®.

Serving size is everything
When you begin the Promise, you are introducing a significant amount of fiber to your diet. Fiber speeds up digestion, aids in laxation and keeps you regular. We suggest sticking to the serving size for each All-Bran product you try. To get an idea of what that means visit the 10-Day Promise Serving Size Gallery at www.all-bran.com.

We’ve included a few more tips below to help you get started:

Fiber Tips:

1. Start slowly. Increasing your fiber intake gradually can help you avoid gas and bloating. 2. Stay Hydrated. As you increase your fiber intake, increase your water intake too. It’s recommended to drink 6-8 cups of water or liquids a day.

3. Save money on All-Bran® products. Visit www.all-bran.com for deals on All-Bran® products.

4. Start now. All-Bran is giving away free Promise Packs (starting mid-May) to get you started. Visit www.all-bran.com and receive your first three servings on us. 5. Enjoy the benefits. Eating All-Bran® products, as part of a high-fiber diet helps promote heart health and digestive, health including regularity. Fiber helps you stay fuller longer. 6. Make it fun. All-Bran® has more than 400 easy, delicious recipes that fit more fiber into your diet. Check out tasty appetizers, salads, baked goods and dinner ideas at www.all-bran.com.

7. Start easy with All-Bran® mix-in ideas. Top fresh fruit salad or ice cream with All-Bran® Bran Buds® to boost your fiber, or add a wholesome crunch to a green salad or a yummy yogurt parfait. For more mix-in ideas, visit www.all-bran.com.

Mini-Challenge

As you might have guessed, this week’s mini-challenge involves fiber! We’re challenging you to figure out how much fiber you get on a daily basis. Do you get the recommended 25-30 grams of fiber? Remember, you get fiber from fruits, vegetables, whole-grains, nuts, legumes, and items like All-Bran Fiber Bars and cereals. Keep a fiber journal for a few days and see if you’re measuring up! You can read this article for more information on the benefits of fiber, and this article on ways to incorporate fiber into your diet!

Giveaway!

We were each given a wonderful gift baskets from Kellogg’s full of All-Bran products to try out during the 10 Day Promise challenge, and we have one gift basket for one lucky reader! That’s right, one lucky reader can take their own 10 Day Promise challenge thanks to Kellogg’s!

How to win:

  1. Leave a comment letting us know how many grams of fiber you get in a typical day, and what foods you eat to get that fiber!
  2. For another chance to win, use Kellogg’s All-Bran Fiber IQ calculator and let us know your score!
  3. For one more chance, tweet about this giveaway!

Don’t forget to leave a separate comment for each entry. Contest will end on Saturday, May 9th @ 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. Open to US residents only (sorry!!). Winner will be randomly selected and announced on Sunday, May 10th!
