Since I’m not going to have access to a scale or a computer next week, I am officially calling this post my 2010 Finale.

So there you have it. My year in numbers. I officially spent 29 weeks in my healthy range. That means I’m above average!

Hurray for somewhat better than mediocrity!

For this challenge in particular, I stayed in my healthy range 4 out of the 6 weigh ins! GO ME!

My average weight in 2010 was 156.9. Talk about skin of my teeth!

While I’m still deciding whether or not I’m going to continue weighing myself in 2011, I really do love seeing these graphs. It really gives me a good picture of how I did for the whole year, as opposed to getting bogged down in the week to week.

I never got more than 3 pounds above my range, and the dreaded 160s decade (that I vowed never to return to) only reared it’s ugly head 3 weeks out of the whole year.

As far as I’m concerned, that’s success.

I’m eating better, I completed 5 races (including 2 tris) and there’s only more to come next year.

2011 is going to bring great things, friends. Great things.

This week was a bit of a rough week.

First off, I took a exercise week off. Which totally defeats the purpose when you have a Fitness Challenge on the table, but I just couldn’t (wouldn’t) get my self together to workout. I logged an abysmal 10 minutes yesterday while I was dancing with the kids.

I still have this “all or nothing” mentality when it comes to exercise. If I’m not able to do ALL of my workout, I end up doing NOTHING.

That probably didn’t need explaining.

Secondly, I had a bit of a stomach bug over the weekend. It was really bad timing because Saturday was our Annual Progressive Dinner. All that delicious food and I didn’t eat hardly any of it.

So, I wasn’t expecting much this weigh in. Which is usually when the magic happens.

I am down 1.2 pounds this week!

I need to come up with some goals for this challenge. No goals = no plan = no good.

  1. As always, stay within the 153-157 pound range.
  2. Do something active every day. Even if it’s only dancing for 5 minutes.
  3. Limit myself to one sweet treat a day (Exception: Thanksgiving Day)
  4. When I have a choice, skip the food with a wrapper.

While I had a loss this week, I feel like I really dropped the ball with the Fitness Challenge. I apologize to my Healthy Holiday Ho’s. It won’t happen again!!

Gosh. It’s been a while since I’ve checked in over here! I’ve been so focused on NOT weighing in, just letting my body do it’s thing and using my jeans as a guide.

I’m happy to report that I weighed in this morning at 157! Still within my healthy range, and this marks the 26th week of the year that I’ve been in that range.

I think I’m going to have to do a year end graph. This has been a good year!

I am part of an amazing team…The Healthy Holiday Ho’s! Our team’s focus is not going to be the scale (although dropping a pound or two will not be frowned upon). We’re going to focus on pushing each other physically and mentally. We’re going to rack up the exercise minutes and make good food choices and honor our bodies.

That, my friends, is what it’s all about.

O.K. So I’m a little late to the game.

Again.

That’s par for the course, people.

Anyway. I have goals, oh yes I do! I love a good goal. Don’t you feel like you are kind of wandering aimlessly without a goal. It’s like shopping without a grocery list, and we all know that THAT never ends of well, right?

For the next 31 30 28 days, here are my goals…

  • Miss no more than 4 training sessions over the next 30 days.
  • I am going out of town next week and then we have visitors the week after that so I am going to need some REAL motivation to keep going on my training.

  • Only snack on foods with 5 ingredients or less.
  • I’m a sucker for a good snack. But I don’t snack enough on simple stuff. So I’m going to limit my snacks to fruits, vegetables, or minimally processed foods. The one exception to this will be the fig newtons I eat during long bike rides and bike/run workouts.

  • Be in bed for 7 hours a night.
  • Pretty self-explanatory. The kids aren’t the only ones who need to start practicing getting up early for school. : )

As always, I my ongoing goal is to stay in my magic weight range of 153-157. My weight last week was 159, but I had a triathlon plus two birthdays so you’ll have that.

This morning I weighed in at 157. Back in range, woohoo!!

Wanna follow along? I have a goal tracking spreadsheet, dontcha know?

Oh my goodness, I went to post today and I realized I haven’t posted a weigh in in FOUR WEEKS!  That’s uncalled for!

A couple of those weeks were traveling and I didn’t even weigh in…mostly because I didn’t have access to a scale or computer. But seriously, if I had weighed in, it wouldn’t be pretty.

But that’s in the past! Because today, I weighed in at 157. Just got by by the skin of my teeth! I have now maintained my 153-157 weight range for 21 out of the past 29 weeks. WOOHOO!! I’m super proud of that!

Next week’s weigh in might be a little sketchy…my first triathlon (eek!) is on Sunday and my birthday is on Monday. I’m going to try to take it easy, but come on…it’s my birthday! And my first triathlon. There will be some celebratory indulging going on. Count on it.

Last week was not pretty.  I stepped on the scale and there was a SIX in the number. A STINKIN’ SIX! Ugh. I took a deep breath and hoped knew it was a false gain because of those stupid ass hormones.

This week, I’m back down to 157. That puts me in range for 19/24 weeks.

I’m getting bored, though. I know this is going to sound like a sob story, but maintenance is tough. It’s like there’s nothing to work for. Your trying hard to stay the same. YIPPEE!!

So, I just need to get some mojo back. I’m not sure how. Hopefully it’ll come with the increased triathlon training. Hopefully.

Well, I’m up a pound this week and I’m a little bit confused by that. Not upset or disappointed, just confused.  Bordering on concerned, but I’m not quite there yet.

I’ve been working out more, and while I’ve indulged in a few things, I definitely don’t feel like I’ve been doing it enough to jump back on the seesaw of weight maintenance.

Do you retain more water when it’s hot outside? That’s what I feel like.  I feel like since the temperatures (and humidity) have jumped into the 90s, the weight has creeped back on.

Maybe that’s just an excuse. Who knows.

So, I will cut the indulgences out and I will get back down under 157 by next week.

Mark my words.

I am so, so excited about this challenge, you know? This is going to take me right through my triathlon training and land me right before my birthday.

Nothing says good training and Happy Birthday like eating right, um…right?

My goal for this challenge remains the same.  I want to maintain my healthy weight range of 153-157.  Since I weighed in this morning right at 157, that means I’m off to a good start! That puts at 18 out of 21 weeks maintenance for 2010!

Woo to the Hoo!

I’m also looking forward to the mini challenge.  I like mini. I have a short attention sp…

Wha?

Ha.

I realized that I never told everyone what my three habits were! DOH!

  1. Reduce sugar in morning coffee from 1 Tbsp to 1/2 Tbsp.
  2. Eat 18 oz. (3 containers) of yogurt a day.
  3. Eat 3 servings of fruit and 2 servings of vegetables a day.

Reducing the sugar has been simple.  I was a little surprised at how little a difference it made in the taste.

Eating that much yogurt in a day proves to be challenging.  I typically have a cracker/chip type snack after the kids come home from school and I keep forgetting to have a yogurt.  I do have one at breakfast and one at lunch pretty easily so at least I’m getting 2/3 of my goal in!

The fruits and vegetables…I’m doing my best.  I definitely get 2 fruits and 1 veggie a day, but I’m having trouble getting those other servings in.  I need to buckle down on that one.

I’m within my range again this week…that makes it 16 out of 18 weeks!  Woohoo!!

Oh my gosh, it takes me so long to post these days.

Anyway, I did weigh in this morning and I nearly fell off my scale.

I gained, but I only gained .8 lb. DUDE! Even after my weekend of debauchery, I am still in my healthy range!

When I saw that glorious 157 on the scale, I got the biggest old smile on my face.

So I will take a .8 lb gain. I will take it and play with it and smother it in hugs and kisses.

And just for Karena, I may serve it some fried pickles…
