I made up a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child with my 2yo this year. Talk about the agonies of shopping with a 2yo - and then prying the stuff out of her hand to pack it, and then trying to keep her out of the box until we could drop it off. All fun!

  • My son and I did a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child this year, too. It's so hard to pack a gift for a special child into a shoebox! I wish I could have sent a refrigerator box :)

We help the kids with the food drive at their school, and are always cleaning toys out to donate because our kids are lucky enough to get new ones (way too often). I'd like to give more, but need to find a good way!

We got a gift for my daughter to take to a nursing home resident. A nurse at my clinic got a 12 year old foster child yesterday and is in need of clothes, so I looked through my daughter's old stuff and couldn't find the right sizes. i think I buy her a few things this weekend. Cheese is one of my fav foods, I better win

What size clothes? You know I have a whole room dedicated to too-small clothing right now, I can look through Averie's and give them to you this weekend!

For our Christmas party this year I am going to be giving a donation to the charity of their choice in their name. So far I have gotten the name of a local animal shelter and a group who provides families in Africa with a clean water sand filtration system (yeah, I'm totally spacing on the name of the organization).

One way I like to give back or pay it forward during the holiday season is to pick gifts from the angel trees. This year we are giving gifts to a 69 yr old man in a nursing home who is alone. There were 5 items on Roy's wish list and we were told it wasn't necessary to get all 5 but we did. I hope he will be smiling this Christmas morning.
  • babyboy3
That is a very cool idea. I have never heard of gifts for someone in the nursing home. Great.
  • I am a sister on facebook
  • I plan on giving back this holiday by donating some stuff to goodwill and making candy bags for my family
