The Saturday Review::Hershey’s Dark Products
Did you know that in addition to February being Heart Health Month, it’s also National Chocolate Month? When Hershey’s contacted us about doing a review for their Hershey®’s Dark products, I actually paused before I shouted YES, and then I decided to take one for the team.
You’re welcome.
Are you familiar with Bob Greene and his Best Life Diet? You’ve no doubt seen the little green logo all over the grocery store on your weekly trips. When I see it, I know without having to look at the nutritional label, that it’s a good choice. Thanks for that, Bob! Bob created the Best Life Treat Seal of Approval to identify healthier food options that are available in portion sizes of 150 calories or less, are free of partially hydrogenated oil, meet sodium and other nutritional guidelines and/or have another plus, such as the antioxidants in dark chocolate. Hershey®’s Extra Dark Chocolate is the only chocolate bar to earn the Best Life Treat Seal of Approval.
No doubt you’re going to receive some yummy chocolately gifts this weekend, but if you are looking for a healthier alternative, only Hershey®’s Extra Dark Chocolate has been awarded the Best Life Treat Seal of Approval from world-renowned health and fitness expert Bob Greene. Recent studies have supported dark chocolate’s heart-health benefits, including increased blood flow and lower blood pressure. Hershey’s is proud to celebrate February Heart Health Month and to treat chocolate-lovers with Hershey’s Extra Dark Chocolate, which has been shown to help maintain good heart health.

Personally, I LOVE dark chocolate. It’s always been my favorite. It has such a wonderfully, rich and complex flavor. Definitely something you want to savor! Because it’s so rich, I tend to eat less of it, so that’s a bonus, too! My favorite item to sample was the Hershey’s Extra Dark Pure Dark Chocolate with Pomegranate flavor. Sweet and tangy! My husband wanted me to tell you adores the Special Dark with Almonds and feels quite healthy after eating it! He’s kinda a smart ass, but I love him.
For those who are making the transition from milk to dark chocolate, try a mildly sweet chocolate option like Hershey®’s Special Dark® Dark Chocolate. This special blend of rich, delicious, velvety dark chocolate is a natural source of flavanol antioxidants and sure to satisfy both milk and dark chocolate lovers alike.
Hershey’s also shared several delicious recipes with me, and I’ve posted one over at the ‘hood for you to check out! Ever made chili with chocolate? Neither have I, but I’m going to try it out this week!

I do love me some dark chocolate. I have weaned myself off of most sugary treats and they don't taste that good anymore. I would love the chocolate goodness.

My favorite indulgence…ummmm that would be CHOCOLATE and Ice cream~~ so chocolate ice cream would be ideal. but not just plain chocolate ice cream…make it fancy in some way!! Right now I am loving Skinny Cow's Chocolate Truffles…so yummy!! and only 100 calories!! that makes it better still!!
Tiare Terrill will soon be my new 'hood friend!!
My favorite indulgence that I almost never let myself indulge in is a Parrot Head martini. One of the ingredients just happens to Godiva dark chocolate liquor. It is sinful to drink, but it is it's own slice of heaven at the same time.

I love chocolate….basically in any form. My favorites, though, are the caramel-filled Hershey kisses or the cherry cordial Hershey kisses. Oh my gosh. To die for. (And I have to run a LOT of miles to work them off!!)
