The Saturday Review: The Daily Mile | The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

When I started this running gig back in October, I heard some rumblings here and there about a site called www.dailymile.com.  I checked it out briefly but didn’t give it much thought because um, hello, I already have enough sites that I write on/check status/update or twitter/facebook/blog.

I had no intention of adding ANOTHER ONE to my already long list.

However, several of my sisters quickly jumped on www.dailymile.com and kept sending me these little “friend” emails to join.  I finally succumbed to peer pressure they wittled at my resolve day after day and I honestly have to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE (that would be a triple love) www.dailymile.com.

What is www.dailymile.com? From their website, dailymile is a “social training log”.

To me, think of it as a marriage of Twitter and Facebook for exercise/training.  It is a place where you can keep track of your exercise, whether it be running, cycling, swimming, weights or other fitness exercises.  You can track how you felt, how many calories you burned, what the weather is like or whatever you like.  There are different tabs that will give you an overview of your training/exercises for the week or month.

Plus, your training log will you tell you how many overall pounds you have burned, how much total time you have exercised, and my favorite, how many donuts you have burned!

Even better, you can become friends with other people (like all of us Sisters!) and we can write on each other’s exercise posts, telling each other how great we are, and how H-A-W-T we are and how great we are doing.  You can also bet that if you are having an “off” day or your exercise didn’t go the way you wanted it to, then we’ll all be there to cheer you on.

Lastly, www.dailymile.com also has a community forum where you can ask questions about anything fitness related, or you can read through questions that other people have asked.  My latest “read” was checking out what other folks had to say about nutrition during the recovery period after a long run.  Interesting stuff and a plethora of information!

All this to say that www.dailymile.com is a free site, one that you must check out!  And if you do, you MUST “friend” me- this is ME on dailymile.

Anyone else on dailymile?  Anyone NOT on dailymile but plan on joining?  Let me know in the comments!
