I am new to this thing called cycling, like really new (or was!).  When I decided to sign up for a triathlon with only 4 weeks lead time, I naively thought it would be *no big deal* to get ready for it.  I mean, I already knew how to swim and I’d been running for a while, all I needed to do was get used to cycling.

Oh, how naive I was!

I had a run in with a St. Bernard, I fell twice while trying to figure out the whole clipless pedals thing, and my legs hurt in new and *fun* ways.  Learning how to cycle- change gears, brake, get *aero*, body form, pedal, grab a drink without toppling over, etc etc- was a challenge for me.  In the last few months, I have learned quite a bit about cycling but I still have much further to go.

When I started out, I just wore my running clothes because that’s all I had to wear.  I wore my tightest sports shirts so as to decrease wind resistance yada yada yada but really, it’s because I had nothing else to wear!

Enter the YMX by Yellowman Cycling Jersey.

Once this arrived in the mail, there’s been no looking back to wearing regular old running clothes for cycling.  This jersey rocks- I love it. Wanna know what I love about it?

Pros:

  • The number of vibrant color choices– LOVE!  I don’t have to look stylish when I cycle, BUT it sure is a nice bonus.
  • The softness and durability of the fabric.  I have washed my jersey several times and it still looks and feels brand-new.  The fabric is soft to the touch and feels so good to wear.
  • The pockets on the back of the jersey.  Seriously, these pockets are awesome, and while I realize most bike jerseys probably come with pockets, these pockets are the perfect size to hold a phone, sports GU, a small towel, or even a small water bottle.  Three nice-sized pockets to hold all your crap stuff.
  • Long zipper.  I use the zipper for help in getting the jersey on and off.  There might be other, more technical uses for it, but I’m not aware of those : ).
  • Sleeveless.  It’s still hotter than heck here in Austin, TX and sleeveless clothes are a must for me.  I like my arms to be free and cool.  Of course, YMX does make long sleeve jerseys as well.
  • UV protection SPF 50+.  This kind of explains itself.  Gotta take care of the skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Longer in the back, elastic around the bottom.  Since I still got a little *junk in the trunk*, um well, I like to be able to cover some of it up, lol.  Plus, they way this jersey is made just feels comfortable when wearing.
  • Versatility– While I personally haven’t done it (yet), I am fairly certain you could go straight from the bike to running in this jersey (hello triathletes) as long as you have a good sports bra on underneath.
  • #1 Pro of this Jersey– I FEEL like a true cyclist when I wear this on the road!!!!
