First and foremost,   I am so thrilled to be contributing here at the Sisterhood!

When I got the email from Christy saying they had chosen me, I peed my pants a little.  Cause I was that excited. True story.

I was laid off from my corporate job in February. So suddenly, I became a stay at home mom. Though I was thrilled to spend time with my child, my self esteem took quite the hit when I lost my job.  It was way too easy to stay in my sweats all day, snack and not exercise.  I wouldn’t leave my house for days and I was miserable – feeling huge and unhealthy. All that baby weight I hadn’t lost was still there, and more was packing on. I had to do something.

Then, through some blog hopping, I found the Sisterhood.

I’ve been participating in Sisterhood challenges since the end of March. Though I haven’t had earth shattering weight loss, here’s what I’ve gained:

Incredible support.  Motivation to try new activities.  A slightly unhealthy obsession with Jillian Michaels.

What I’m trying to say is, this is working for me.  The weight is coming off, slowly but surely, and I’m starting to recognize myself again.

It’s amazing what can be accomplished with a good support system.

I’m laying it all out here.  I don’t profess to know it all about weight loss and the road to fitness.  But, I’m a nut that will try most anything (unless it involves heights or taking a pill that causes diarrhea – come on now) and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.  I’m a real woman, with real body issues, struggling to love myself enough to realize that good health is a million times more important than looking hot in a bikini.

Though I wouldn’t mind looking hot in a bikini. Just saying.

Right now, my main fitness focus is the Couch to 5 K program.  I’m about six weeks in – and I am stunned that I am actually gaining endurance. Today, for instance, I ran 25 minutes straight.  That, my peeps, is CRAZY.

Can’t wait to hear from you all, and I hope that I can offer you something that will inspire you the way my Sisters (and Brother – hi Brian!) have inspired me.
