I swore to myself that I would not ever buy another “diet” book. I knew what was the right way to lose weight. I knew that exercise was an important part of weight loss. I knew that there was no quicky way to get the job done. I knew that I had to do the work. Period!!

Well…I started hearing that Bob Harper of Biggest Loser fame had a new book out. The Skinny Rules. The simple, nonnegotiable principles for getting to thin. Not getting thin, but getting TO thin. I couldn’t help myself. I had to buy it.

Amazingly enough, I was glad I bought it. It just made good sense. There are 20 skinny rules to follow. All totally doable rules, mind you. There are menus and recipes. I really liked this book. It was clicking with me.

I am sure I can’t give you all the rules in this post. Bob probably wouldn’t like that. I think I can give you a few of my favorite rules though.

Rule 1. Drink a large glass of water before every meal–No excuses.
It is amazing how much less you eat when you start your meal already feeling a little full.

Rule 7. No carbs after lunch.
I thought this was going to be harder than it actually is.

Rule 20. Plan one splurge meal a week.
You can think of this as a reward for doing good the rest of the week.

My favorite recipe so far is the French Chicken Salad Lettuce Wraps. So yummy and only 219 calories and 23g of protein.

Have I piqued your interest? Maybe just a little bit? I really do highly recommend this book. It just makes good sense on so many levels. It is all common sense and sometimes I just lack that until someone puts it right in front of my face.
