Eat Clean Health Detox and Cleanse Programs {a review} | The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans LLC

Jodi Geigle, of Eat Clean Health, has been contributing to the Sisterhood for several months sharing her extensive knowledge of nutrition, and her passion for clean living. Jodi recently challenged Melissa and I to partake in her detox and cleanse programs in order to gain a first hand experience of her approach. While we were both a little leery of the words cleanse and detox, we agreed to look over her materials and give it a go.

Just what do Jodi’s detox and cleanse programs entail? Basically you’re cutting out any foods that might be a potential allergen. Think soy, dairy, and wheat. And before you shake you head and say there’s no way in hell…..keep reading. I never thought I’d be able to do it, but with Jodi’s guidance and expert advice, I did it, and it was SO much easier and better than I thought it would be.

Below you’ll find a detailed account of both of our experiences with the detox and cleanse programs.

Christy’s experience with the Eat Clean Health 14 Day Detox Program

Pre-detox: I filled out an online questionnaire and submitted it to Jodi and we scheduled our pre-detox phone call. She was very flexibly, because I had to reschedule my call twice, finally settling on a Sunday night after my kids were in bed. We spoke for an hour, and from the start I loved her! She’s funny and kind, and completely put me at ease.

I grocery shopped using the included grocery list, and I’m not going to lie, it was a tad on the expensive side. There are things that I bought, that I loved, and some things not so much. My advice is only get a couple of the ‘new to you items’ in the beginning. I tried the dried goji berries and wasn’t impressed, but loved the sunflower butter, chia seeds, and raw honey.

Plan ahead! Go in with your first few days planned out so you’re not floundering and wondering what the heck to eat. If you have a plan, it will put you at ease. The thing I loved most, was no counting or measuring. Just do what feels right.

Day 1: Excitement! I can do this. I started working on my journal and was filled with excitement!

Day 2: Woke up feeling less than wonderful. My head was hurting and I just felt crabby. After I checked my email and saw Jodi’s daily message, I realized that it was because my body was freaking out about the whole lack of sugar. DETOX! This was an eye opener for me, because I didn’t think I really consumed much sugar until I started this detox. Now I see all the sneaky little places it’s hiding.

Days 3-5: Felt great. Actually better than I had in a long time. Lots of energy – didn’t have that mid-afternoon crash that required coffee. Oh, did I mention that it’s okay to drink coffee on Jodi’s plan (ESSENTIAL for me!)? Yes! I made several of the recipes that Jodi provided in her recipe book, including a delicious creamy cauliflower soup. It was awesome, and my kids loved it too!

Days 6-10: I started getting the hang of journaling each day, and also noticed that I was feeling lighter emotionally. As a homeschooling mom, who’s husband travels every week, I sometimes feel bogged down and less than cheerful (that’s putting it nicely) with my kids. While I was going through this detox, I felt like I actually had more patience with my kids.

Days 11-14: The most noticeable difference for me at this point was in my skin. I have rosacea and use really good facial care products to keep it under control, but my skin was even more improved, and I’m sure it was thanks to all the fruit and vegetables I consumed. All of my skin felt better. Less dry and flaky all over. I also lost about 5 pounds, and aside from the first couple of days, never really felt hungry or deprived.

At the end of the detox, Jodi sent me a survey and instead of a wrap-up phone call, we’ve shared a series of emails. It was a great experience, and I’m proud to say that I’ve continued to incorporate a lot of her philosophies in to my daily life. I’ve continued to juice and make daily smoothies, and I start out each day with a lemon elixir – even my son enjoys them with me!

The biggest differences I noticed over the course of the 2 week Detox were:

  1. Increased energy. I cannot even describe how much more energetic I felt. It was awesome!
  2. Less bloating around the mid-section. My stomach was noticeably flatter.
  3. I was in a better mood. That was priceless for me.

Things I loved most:

  1. Jodi’s overall approach to nutrition. There is no ‘one size fits all’, and she really encourage you to nourish your body, mind, and soul. Very holistic.
  2. The daily emails from Jodi were such a boost. They were full of inspiration and seemed to really speak to the place I was at each day.
  3. The personal relationship I formed with Jodi was great. I feel like she really took the time to get to know me and find out what my wants and needs were. She

Other things you should know:

  1. There are no gimmicks. It’s all real food, and you just have to cut the crap. All of it.
  2. I’ve heard of other people doing other detoxes and sitting on the toilet the whole time. This was not the case for me. Nothing that I ate or drank caused me to have excessive or explosive bowel movements (you know you were wondering!).
  3. If you’re going to do it, you have to DO IT ALL. No half-assing it if you really want the results.

Here is what Melissa has to say about the Eat Clean Health 7 Day Cleanse program:

First off, let me say that I went to high school with Jodi-she was the little sister to one of my classmates. Jodi has always been extremely beautiful, healthy, kind, and funny. I am  so excited that she has chosen to share her healthy living knowledge and experience with the world! I think we can learn a lot from her!

Jodi’s approach to healthy living doesn’t just focus on diet. Jodi teaches us to nourish EVERY aspect of ourselves, something that I have been extremely lax with in the past year. I have been BUSY, and with all that busyness, nourishing myself has been the farthest thing from my mind!

I was overjoyed when Jodi approached me about trying her program. I felt that it was what I needed at just the right time to get my life back on track. I dove head-first into her 7 Day Cleanse. She emailed me tons of useful information to read prior to the start. I love that she provides recipes and a shopping list, although some of the ingredients were a bit hard for me to find here in Podunk, North Dakota. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime.

Each morning, I awoke to find encouraging emails and inspirational quotes from Jodi -which makes me super-happy because I LOOOOOVE awesome sayings and quotes. Just ask Pinterest.

Honestly, the first few days were hard for me. I was ready to gnaw on my own arms. I felt a bit grumpy, tired, and HUNGRY (or at least I *thought* I was hungry). Thankfully, I stuck with it through the cravings and began to feel much better. I even enjoy green smoothies now, and often start my days with them. The Detox Morning Lemon Elixir is also now a part of my regular routine. By the end of the cleanse, I felt so much better about myself, and I felt more in control of my eating habits and life in general.

I definitely recommend Jodi’s programs to anyone wanting to change their path and focus on healthy living!

Tomorrow Jodi will be posting some more about herself and Eat Clean Health, so be sure to stop by to learn more. She’s even going to have a giveaway for one of her 7-Day Cleanse programs!
